Strengths: Shift smoothly and predictibly, Look great and stay looking great,Light and Incredibly strong
Weaknesses: not found any to date
Overall: Great set of rings run these as part of a shimano xt/xtr drivetrain and the performace is second to none with silky smooth shifts whatever the conditions.
Strengths: Stiff and strong rings, durable with excellent shifting
Weaknesses: they could always be cheaper!
Overall: Had them for about two years, still going strong, still shifting flawlessly and that's after approx 4000 miles. No experience of chainsuck either. I'd recommend them too.
Strengths: Awesome rings. Have done over 4000 miles on them and they still look as good as new.
Weaknesses: None at all
Overall: Chain suck? Jesus guys, it's far more likely to be your chain than brand new chainrings. Buy yourself a maintenance manual and learn how to set your gears up! Now have three sets of Race Face chainrings, one on my hack bike, one on my commute and a set on my XC rig. Last longer and are stronger than everything else I've tried (which includes Shimano, TA, FSA, Black Spire and Middleburn). Are way more durable than Shimano and pretty good weight too. Not daft superlight and they shift properly as well which is more than can be said for Middleburn rings. Definitely highly recommended. An easy 5 stars
Strengths: Made by RaceFace, should be good (or so I thought)
Weaknesses: Expensive, poor durtaion, lots of chainsuck from the start
Overall: Thinking that RaceFAce gear should be good I bought these about 1200 miles ago to go with a new frame and drive set up. The previous ICON rings had lasted >4000 miles with very little trouble or any chainsuck. From the start on the first ride changing from small to middle ring chainsuck! Eventually got better as bedded in but still problematic. Glad the frame wasn`t painted. Now after 1200 miles with a new chain and block more problems chainsuck and hanging on again causing deraileur rattle. Have just replaced inner and middle with Truvativ at under half the price. This has really put me off RF products in general
Strengths: Stiffer and more durable than shimano's XT ring set. Compatible with 2002 XT crank arms, no spacers req'd.
Weaknesses: A slight reduction in shifting performance compared with Shimano rings but after a few rides they bed in, you get used to it and you'd hardly notice.
Overall: I'll be buying these again. The fact that they have outlasted my recent XT rings is a sure sign that RF have got durability in mind. Great lazer etched RaceFace logo. The extra stiffness stops lard arsed ring benders like me(excuse the terminology) bending the rings and causing them to scaff on the front mech.
