Strengths: Adjustable length, moveable 'head', looks quite nice and different.
Weaknesses: Sometimes, at 1.8m long, it is slightly short. Heavy.
Overall: The 'python' look of this lock (complete with 'eyes' on the flipside of the head) might be a bit of a gimmick, but the adjustability of the cable length certainly isn't.
The cable feeds through the mouth of the lock and pops out the back of the head, meaning you can pull the cable tight around your bike - the theory being this gives a thief less room to work in.
The movebale head also gives you a bit more leeway with the direction you want to thread the cable around your bike.
I've not used the holder for this lock that can attach to the frame, but I get the feeling the lock is a bit too bulky to make this comfortable - carrying it in a bag is much more preferable.
At 1.8m long this has a good reach, but every so often if I want to lock both wheels and the frame (I'm a bit paranoid see) you start running out of cable.
I'm not sure how the lock actually works, it just seems to grip the cable itself within the head, but it seems rock solid.
Apart from a small problem with the key a couple of times getting into the lock (waiting to see if this becomes a regular problem) the reliability seems fine.
As for performance? Well the bike hasn't been stolen yet....
Weaknesses: I go to school on a campus where bike theft is prevalent, so when the chain on my beater bike broke ( a bike i dont even bother to lock up because it looks so damn ugly :) i started riding my road bike to class. Problem is now i cant get the lock to unlock.
im not sure if its the cold weather, or the fact that it looks like someone tried to pick the lock and bent the working parts, or if the lock itself sucks...
I haven't found any other reports on this, so im assuming someone tried to pick the lock. But has anyone else had troubles with this??
Overall: Overall?? I think Ill just get a combination lock next time.
