'10YRS AND STILL GOING'
Strengths:
Solid, easy connection, long lasting, don't need cycle shoes for short shopping trips. Loved them
Weaknesses:
for MTB.... as a tool...none that i've ever found... aesthetically.. possibly a bit bulky.
Overall:
Spot on as a first buy, i even moved them onto my road bike as i was so comfortable and used to them. Only getting rid of them to lighten up my road bike.

'WOULD RECOMMEND THESE TO FIRST TIMERS.'
Strengths:
Good first clipless pedal.ie easy to set up and maintain. Price v reasonable. Strong confident hold.
Weaknesses:
Really difficult to ride uphill in normal trainers.
Overall:
Very good pedal. Shimano quality. Won't ever cycle with flatties again.
Much more control over bike and more efficient pedalling.

'GOOD LOOKS,LIGHT WEIGHT'
Strengths:
good clippy feel when properly adjusted, nice to feel a lot of pedal under your foot aswell as the secure feeling of the clips.
Weaknesses:
i could'nt ride in normal trainers, foot kept slipping off the mechanism.
Overall:
ok pedal, first clippless pedals i'v tried so found them a bit strange at first, but good for new riders wanting to try clippless, i got em for £22 too, bargain!

'EXCELLENT FIRST-TIME SPD PEDAL'
Strengths:
Easy to clip into because of resin cage. Feel comfortable and secure once clipped in. Easy to unclip from.
Weaknesses:
I had the lessen the tension on mine to be able to clip in to begin with, they were very stiff. Used some lube tho and they were sweet.
Overall:
My first attempt at SPD's and really confident in them (went off-road first time no probs). I recommend using multi-release cleats though just to be sure until you get the hang of them.

'GOOD ALL-ROUND SPD PEDAL'
Strengths:
Very well made pedal for the money. Easy to use and set-up. Usual high quality Shimano kit.
Weaknesses:
Some SPD shoes can be difficult to engage due to catching on the pedal cage. (I have Diadora Cobra's now which are fine).
Overall:
Good first SPD pedal. Useful when using the bike just to pop to the shops in normal trainers/shoes. For anyone not using SPD pedals, try it, it is worth the effort/money. I feel they make a big difference on longer rides.

'GOOD INTRODUCTION TO SPUDS.'
Strengths:
Cheap for a big platform SPD.
Easy to engage.
Only clag up when very filthy.
Weaknesses:
Plastic cage is crap, spring on the RH side went AWOL sometime in the first month. A year on and they look tatty as hell with scraped plastic hanging off.
Overall:
Nice big pad to put your foot on which is rather inportant when you are unsure of the concept of being attached to the bike, and they are basically a bog standard shimano SPD with a placcy cage so you can comfortably(ish) make short journeys in regular shoes. However, going further than the 10 minutes to work and back gets uncomfy and very dicey in the wet!

Plastic bits have rather dubious staying power, don't stand up to a great deal of abuse. Mine look like they have been seriously raped but have only spent a year of weekend rides on my XC bike, although to be fair they still work.

In a word, these are good starter pedals, but if you are experianced with SPDs get the more expensive version with the metal cage for the greater durability.
