Weaknesses: top velcro strap, leaves a gap at the top or overtighten and there goes your circulation
Overall: Had a pair of these from Arthur Caygill Richmond and used daily in Catterick (very bizarre weather to say the least) So far so good, very warm even with normal none cycling socks on. Feet do sweat but at least they warm. No leaks yet but they do look like a roadie overboot. Would I buy another pair???? Yep and for only £89 (discount by Arthur Caygill)
Overall: Great stuff i have the earlier version with laces and a no added carbon sole but very good just a wool sock needed no near for Seal skins although have had both on but really not needed
Strengths: These are well made, warm and very waterproof.
Weaknesses: Price
Overall: All the other reviews that said they leak water have got it wrong. If you leave a gap or insert and non waterproof material into any waterproof boot they will soak up water. As long as the top is covered with a waterproof material like Gore-tex trousers then your feet will stay dry. I use these with Berghaus Accession trousers and have used them for over 3 hours in heavy rain and stayed completely dry.
Weaknesses: laces give up quickly, difficult to change. heel lift a problem-that is heel of foot lifts in boot on upstroke. really need neoprene/other waterproof overshoe to keep water out
Overall: i've had mine 2 year and still happy with. as for drying-stuff with old newspaper and put on boiler- works every time v quickly.
Overall: I Have the road version and ride 25mile to work and on the rainy mornings have never found that they have kept my feet dry and i have mudguards on. Found that the water splashed up of the road onto the boot and water soaked through. On the plus side my feet still stayed warm even when wet.
Strengths: Keep your feet warm and dry in any conditions. Great sole plus screw in studs for walking. Easy to clean.
Weaknesses: Sizing. I`m normally a size 8(42). The 42 in these said 8 1/2 uk size on the box, but they are nowhere near that. I ended up with 43s (says 9 1/2 uk size on box) to allow for thicker socks.
Overall: I suffer badly with cold feet, but since buying these boots last year, my feet have never been cold. I wear a pair of waterproof over trousers to prevent water getting down into the boots.
Strengths: As warm as anything else out there (though i still get cold feet after a couple of hours, probably just my bad circulation as huge winter hiking boots, twice the bulk of these, are no warmer either)
Dont appear to leak.
Good stiff sole.
Suprisingly good for hike-a-biking, sole offers great traction in mud, and you can just hose them down when you hose off you bike.
Lots of reflective trim means they're excellent for winter commuting too.
Weaknesses: Laces are fiddly, thread on one o the cleat holes appear to have given up. There is another set of holes i suppose... that or threadlock should sort it.
Pricey, but no more so than Shimano W102's which are neither as warm or as comfortable as these.
Velcro fateners will always wear out eventually, once the hooks all straighten out it doesnt grip, should be good for 18 months daily use though, which is easily 3 winters of use.
Overall: Not much to fault, buckle fasteners would've been nice.
Strengths: Waterproof, breathable, chunky sole, and they hose down well after a ride. They work well with my Time pedals.
Weaknesses: Screw on studs come loose, lost 2 within a couple of rides. The strap on back made a tearing noise when I pulled them too hard trying to pull them on but they havent broken yet. When wearing leggings with foot straps in heavy rain the boots fill up with water,it wickes straight down and into the boots.I guess this is a problem with any waterproof boot
Overall: They are breathable and keep my feet warm and dry (except in really bad conditions). They are made of touch materials. I have been waiting a long time for a pair of Gortex cycling boots that suit riding in the muddy Chiltern Hills in the winter, and I think these are a good option.
Weaknesses: laces but they are covered with velcro flap so kept out of muck
Overall: excellent winter boot. waterproof if you're not a numty and keep leggings on outside of them ie foot loop underneath boot. have used them in dales and peak and warmest my feet have ever been
