Strengths: Variety of trails, diversity of trails, and scale.
Weaknesses: Bad weather, water ruts and the price of beer.
Overall: Awesome, the most stunning scenery you'll ever see. Oh..and the rides, great. Easy to get to know your way around although the maps and directions aren't that easy to follow and you don't always know if all the lifts are working.
A week isn't long enough so it looks like I am going back year after year just to make sure I nail all those trails.
There are some excellent technical challenges available and if you don't feel like it, there are easier ways around and so many routes to choose from.
Morzine is great village and very welcoming by the locals.
Strengths: Gareth and the guides know the area really well and are very friendly. The chalets are run perfectly with 5* food and unlimited wine!
Morzine is an area for everyone, you can spend all day downhilling or all day doing all grades of XC.
Weaknesses: I haven't found any
Overall: I've been to Morzine 3 years in a row now with Endlessride. It's a great holiday for all people no matter what grade of rider you are. Yes you can get cheaper holidays in the area but they won't be as good.
Strengths: Morzine is much more than a DH mecca, the guides know this area so well that you can take full advantage of top XC, "soft freeride" and huge days of gravity assisted fun in both france and swizterland.
you will leave with a real increase in skills and ability.
Having said that the DH runs are awesome, some of the best 4 mins from the chalets!
I've not been on a chalet type holiday before.. so the "being cooked for" bit was all a bit odd at first. esp as i'm a self confessed foodie. My concerns were ill founded and the food is simply fantastic. The time and cost of buying and cooking and still getting all that riding in would just not work - be humble and be cooked for: you'll ride more!
transfers to the airport were faultless.
The accomadation being spacious and ensuite really makes it a pleasure to just hang out in the chalet. there's no queues or hasstles getting ready in the morning and there's loads of seating to slob out post ride.
if you have the fortune to get on a refuge trip GO... awesome days under mt blanc with descents i can still dream of. The climb is a bit of a shocker on a patriot FR however!!
Weaknesses: not the cheapest, but you can see where the money goes - and it's worth it.
By the end of the season the hire bikes are basically shagged. Not as shagged as the others we found on offer in Morzine though! If you ride round there for 12 weeks solid - with no time for full strip downs then what do you expect. The guides will do nearly anything in their power to get the bikes up and running - but i would suggest you go early on the season if you want top functioning bikes
Overall: - worth it, as recommended by BM regulars - large numbers of clients go year on year - so will I - i have a slow DH time on the "pleny" to beat...oh yeah - the passport de les portes de soleil (new version of the free raid) calls for next yr.... i'll be booking once i've worked out the dates! - get body armour and consider a full face for the DHs...really!!
Strengths: Gareth and Sam, all the guides and the chalet hosts go out of their way to make a holiday with them supurb in every way. They will make you feel part of their family. They are as laid back or as eager as you. If you ask they will test your skill and endurance to the limit, or take you on the nicest scenic cruises. the food is excellent and there is homemade cake every day. There are trips away, in both France and over the border. Has any-one mentioned the unlimited wine? been 2 years running, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to any-one thinking of going to the Alps.
Weaknesses: erm........nope, can't think of one
Overall: Go.
don't mess about, if you're going to Morzine, do yourself a favour and go with Endlessride.
Strengths: The people, great bunch offering first class accomodation, food, guiding ( a must if you want to get the best from the area). The Mutzig bar. Lift assisted riding in the mountains is just fantastic. Morzine would be good for groups with some none riders, full size olympic pool, tennis courts and lots of outdoor type things to do.
Weaknesses: None really.
Overall: The dogs....... Whether you are a 9 stone cross country ferret or the next Steve Peat, Endless ride can give you a fantastic holiday. Looking forward to my fourth week with them next year already. Sam and Gareth - mines a pint!
Strengths: Morzine's a great resort with some fantastic riding. Superb guiding service backed up by top accommodation and food. Something for everyone - rides are well tailored according to ability. A real no-hassle holiday: everything is sorted for you from the minute you arrive.
Weaknesses: None to speak of, apart from making most of the hills in the UK look very small!
Overall: A really good, great value holiday provided by a really great bunch of people. Recommended!
Strengths: Our summers wouldn't be complete without a trip to Morzine and a stay with Endlessride. The organisation is superb, the planning done by Sam, Gareth and the guides means all you have to do is tell them what type of riding you like and you will have a wonderful holiday. With their help I have seen myself improve and gain more confidence with my riding. There is a ride for every ability and a cake shop in Avoriaz to give that sugar boost when needed ! The guides take fantastic photos that can be viewed in the evening with lots of tales of the day. The chalets complete the personal touch (rather than an impersonal hotel), the cooking exceeds expectation night after night and Morzine offers some nightlife too.
Weaknesses: None
Overall: An ideal location, I'll be going back, and this time I'll be taking the bike that I hired from them in the summer - and I bought !
Strengths: We stayed with Endlessride in their chalet Sapin last summer. It's a really comfortable chalet and right in the centre of Morzine. The lifts are less than 50m away and the town is just as close.
The chalet staff and guides were all excellent. We had some amazing rides, just let the guiding staff know what you want to do and they'll show you the best trails to suit. We had quite a mix of abilities in our group and there was something for everyone.
The chalet meals were just what we needed at the end of a big day and the vegetarian in our group was just as well catered for. Great wine too.
Morzine itself is a great base for a holiday, just make sure the staff take you to the bar Robinson for post ride Mutzigs!
Weaknesses: Just as everyone else has said, there's nothing really that Endlessride don't do well.
Overall: Simply one of the best active holidays I've had. From the pick up at Geneva airport right to the end we never had a bad moment.
The overnight mountain hut trip was unforgettable and I'd recommend it (and endlessride) to anyone.
Strengths: Too numerous to mention, but briefly..Very well organised holiday, from the pick up at Geneva, right through to the end of the holiday. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, who really do look after you and whatever interests you have. Riding for everyone, regardless of ability. Morzine is a lovely alpine village, with very friendly locals. Endless Ride's chalets are good, and food is out of this world, and you get unlimited wine.....yes really!! All in all, can't recommend it enough......
Weaknesses: None at all, although recommend a few bits of body armour, even if you are a beginner, especially in wet conditions!
Overall: Can't fault this holiday....It is very well organised and I cannot recommend it enough. Great bunch of people involved in the running of this company!
