Strengths: good riding, good 'other' sports, descent enough guides. great child care and babysitting service.
Weaknesses: The accomodation. Other (non-guiding) staff were a little cliquey.
Overall: The self-catering apartment was terrible. It was meant to sleep 5 but was in reality a one-bed flat. the bedroom had 3 beds and the lounge/kitchen had bunk-beds in it.
However, the child-care was great and they provide a baby-sitting service at night.
The riding was good - but it's not Chamonix.
I understand they've reviewed the self-catering side of things now and you specify how many bedrooms you want.
Strengths: Comfortable chalet centrally located, good and varied food, excellent guiding for all types(I mixed it between xc and freeride), great recovery service when I bust my wheel in the middle of nowhere, and their handy mechanic who built another one....and the staff were up for it too.....??
Weaknesses: Not much wrong here. Perhaps not enough tottie in the village but then again it's not Ibiza....
Overall: My second time with Alp Active, and not the last. These folks have been at it for ages and know the best of the riding for sure. Don't believe Andy Capp was staying in the same place - see previous review - sounds like he has got mixed up with someone else??? C U next year........
Strengths: The guiding, the food, the staff's ability to ignore our misdemeanours when returning from BarBush a bit late and wobbly.
Weaknesses: They've gone a bit family orientated of late.
Overall: The accommo was clean and comfy, good food and plenty of it.
Our guides (freeride) have always been excellent and have shown us new, bigger, scarier stuff every year. Plenty of mucking about but they do make sure you won't do anything too silly. Support is good, especially when I trashed 2 bikes in 2 days....
As above, they seem to have gone a bit more family orientated, probably due to the profusion of 'budget' accommo that's sprung up.
Not the cheapest, but I reckon good value when you look at the overall package, support and professionalism.
Strengths: Anna drew some great rides on my map. They are more than happy to guide but if like me you like to get lost - they can show where to get off the busy tracks. The food is awesome but my tum is only so big.
Weaknesses: sometimes the water service fails - but hey that's cool cos the stream is just a few minutes walk from chalet.
Overall: Def recommend for someone travelling by themselves. No pressure to take part and they know the area like the back of their cycling gloves. For me it was like a second home.
