'The original and the best!'

Strengths:
The Scottish Highlands are hard to beat for downright gorgeous countryside and tremedously enjoyable riding. Wildcat's founder and main guide knows the Highlands like no-one on earth (history in mountain rescue, MTB championships, ...). The trip includes all different kinds of track and trail. Great fun, great riding, great company.

Weaknesses:
Scottish weather is worse than English!
Midges are everywhere when you stop :(.

Overall:
Very professionally run tours. You are in very safe hands with Wildcat. All MTB tours are fully minibus supported so no worries about carrying luggage. Accomodation is generally of a good standard (even when in some fairly remote places).

The groups are small so no faffing around waiting for the next twenty people to catch up! They are also pretty diverse - only half of the people on my trips were from the UK. And, it being a holiday, up for a bit of rest and relaxing in the local pub of an evening :).

'FANTASTIC'

Strengths:
The Wildcat C2C is a real gem. The route is varied, challenging and scenic. Guides are freindly, knowledgable and full of anecdotes about previous years.

Weaknesses:
Midges. For the first couple of days the little b£$*&?@s feast on you if you stop for longer than about 30 seconds. This gets progressivley less as you travel East. Through experiance I know that I am particularly attractive to biting insects and come up in nice blotches, so if I can live through this (and yes I would go again) then anyone else should be able to.

Overall:
I would recomend this to anyone who is looking for a weeks mountain biking. I was unique in our group as I had neither been before or went with a friend. However within the first few hours I felt like part of the group and was never lonely. I did the full (hard) route although on two days we split into two bunches to offer an easier option. Wildcat have been doing this for a number of years and this shows in the fantastically smooth way that the organisation works.
