Overall: Rocky Mountain Adventures changed hands in April 2006 and is now under new management (I am one of the new owner/manager/guides). We ride the trails with you, run the holidays first hand, and take real pride in ensuring that our guests have a really memorable biking holiday. We have already made several improvements this year (2006) and we certainly don't overlap holidays anymore... Our guests have the full attention of all our staff during their stay and our new guides are true mountain bikers that love to ride and wouldn't dream of trying to cut short our rides! The previous owner was not a mountain biker, never road the trails, and employed guides to run the holidays for him. A far cry from how it is run now! The new chalet we are using has been very well received by this year's guests. We are no longer using the chalets that John Ross has referred to in his review. Please consider the good reviews we've had from guests we have hosted from April 2006 onwards, when deciding whether to come on holiday with us. If you have any concerns then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Strengths: Rode some of the best trails imaginable,Slickrock Porcupine rim etc Kath Sohie and Martin couldnt have done more to make the 2 weeks run smoothly,
Weaknesses: Altitude at Brekenridge took some getting use to and i wanted to stay for 3 months longer at least
Overall: Moab, fruita, the rockies and 2 days at keystone bike park with uplift was way more than i could have expected from a 2 week holiday. Chalets seemed fine to me they are no longer overlapping holidays and Martin was an excellent guide.
Strengths: Trails are excellent, breckenridge is a great place. Moab and Fruita trails good. LOcal Guides, superb.
Weaknesses: Chalets in very poor condition, run down and trashed. Some of Rocky Mountain Guides always interested in doing shorter routes. Very unorganised company, not what you expect for a £2K holiday.
Overall: We travelled out on the Breckenridge, Fruita and Moab trip in June 2005. The riding was great but the organisation and facilities of Rocky Mountain were very very poor. Do not book the same time as the Tour of the Rockies is on as the fit guides are away doing this and you get some part time guides who are slow and always looking to do a short ride. The local guides which thy use are very good but are not always used. I would go back to Breckenridge tomorrow but not with Rocky Mountain.
Strengths: A real great team of ladies and gents right from the time of booking through to the holiday itself. Amazing scenery, the most fantastic and perfect singletrack Ive ever ridden. Cheaper than I could DIY it. Don't know how they make money?
Weaknesses: Chalets aren't for everyone. I was in with a nice bunch of folk but one of the other chalets had a right p***k in that I would have not liked being around - and neither did anyone else. I suppose that's not their fault though so not sure if that is fair.
Overall: Been on a few bike holidays, not to America though. Always dreamed about it but never really wanted to use up all my holiday time in one go. Bit the bullet and went and it was the best thing I'd ever done. Paul and Nick were excellent hosts as well as the other guides. You can tell they've been doing it for a long time and have really got it sorted. The trails were like nothing Ive ever ridden before. I can't possible imagine where could have a more diverse selection of singletrack with mountains all around that on a few occasions distracted me from the trail, resulting in a few tumbles. A great bunch of guests made the holiday fantastic and new friends for life. Excellent accommodation with a cozy log fire to come in to at the end of the day. Moab was amazing. Was going to try slickrock at night but bottled out in the end. The gusiding service was invaluable as you really do venture out in the wilds. A few friends had previously tried to talk me into doing a fly drive with a guide book, but I honestly can't imagine doing most of those trails without a guide. Money well spent. I'm hoping to try out the touring holiday next year that goes accross the Rockie Mountains from Denver to Durango but would like to hear from anyone who did it in 2004 before I let myself in for it.
Weaknesses: altitude/travel time/but hey it is USA moab midges/now i have to save up./
Overall: dont go as you will have to go back and show all your mates. brilliant trip. having spent nearly as much last year for one week in spain. top value holiday.
