Overall: I WAS WARNED ABOUT THIS SEATPOST BEFORE I BOUGHT IT BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS FROM USE SO THERE SHOULD BE NO PROBLEMS HOW WRONG I WAS I CALLED USE AFTER I HAD BOUGHT IT ABOUT MY CONCERNS BUT WAS TOLD THAT IF FITTED CORRECTLY WITH THE CORRECT SHIMS THERE WOULD BE NO PROBS ONE WEEK LATER AND JUST SHORT OF LOOSING MY MEMBER IT SNAPPED WHY DU THEY CONTINUE TO SELL THIS POST WHEN IM TOLD THAT 8 OUT OF 10 BREAK I REALLY THINK THEY SHOULD ALL BE CALLED BACK IN BEFORE SOMONE GETS REALLY HURT
Strengths: Very light and so far very strong. (I use it on my Ridgeback Genesis Day 01 road bike and I am 260lbs). Deadens the buzz from the road. I have been riding the post for 5 months now and no sign of breakage. (And believe me, I check often with horror stories like the one above).
Weaknesses: The head clamp can be a bugger to set up and seems to take for or five rides of re-tightening before it would settle down. The post also needs to be clamped down just so at the seat clamp. Just enough to stop slippage but not enough to crack the post.
Overall: The head clamp is a work of art that looks so fragile but is so strong. I read all of the horror stories but thought what the hell as I have some pretty light and supposedly fragile stuff on my mountain bike that has been fine for me. Read all of the instructions and have patience setting the thing up and everything should be fine. I was so impressed that I bought an Alien TI post for my mountain bike.
Strengths: Light weight and does what carbon does by deadening the vibrations through the frame and saddle and into you bum. Can be used with almost any frame by shimming it up with the use shims.
Weaknesses: Unless you get the seatclamp tightened up just right the post slips in the shim, the seat clamp onto the saddle rails seems to need re-tightening frequently.
Overall: Good post that is light and strong and once set-up right is a reliable piece of kit
Strengths: light, flexy and when used with titanium rails, proves to be very comfortable.
Weaknesses: none, clamp isn't that hard to set up and mine hasnt come loose, even after 6 months of continuous use. i have one on my road bike and a 350mm one on my mtb.
Overall: very good and reliable, only reliable if you use it for what it is meant. if you look after kit it looks after you.
