Strengths: Rear allows better management of the seat post - space here for mudguard, reflector, light, saddle pouch and room to lower saddle made easier by having two adjustment points. Front gives good protection whilst it remains attached!
Weaknesses: The quick release on the front is too flimsy - I bought these for both the SO and self and they have now both broken within two months of purchase. The QR mechanis has four flimsy little plastic teeth that snap off - this after an average of 4~5 hours riding a week.
Overall: Rear guard is good but the front quick release lets down dramatically so much so that I would recommend that no-one buys the front guard until they change the mechanism (must have done this before - as a friend has an older front guard with a different release mechanism!!)
Strengths: Nice looks, front guard works well to reduce spray
Weaknesses: Rear guard has over engineered fixing that comes loose fairly quickly. Rear guard makes only token attempt to reduce spay and debris
Overall: Picked these up with my new Kona. Front performed well, but rear is badly designed. The screw fixings are prone to loosening under prolonged vibration, and really don't function as guards in any practical sense. Look nice though! Tested these on daily 20 mile run to work along mud- bound tow path during winter: as good a test environment as any, I'd say!
