Strengths: Climbs like a hardtail. Still relieves the stress from big hits. Just a service reveals that it was really underdamped previously (was that the problem, did I need the propedal upgrade?)
Weaknesses: Transmits the small bumps like a hardtail would, it only moves for big roots etc. When out of the saddle climbing it is totally rigid, it is better when descending and not pedalling but when pedaling it does lock up causing the back end to skip about a bit. NB the manual lockout functionality is lost with the upgrade.
Overall: Well worth it as I've got rid of the annoying lockout lever and now I can concentrate on the trail. I would have liked to compare the results with a newly serviced unit without the custom valving. I wonder if the TFTuned version gives better small bump performance?
