Strengths: Very Friendly and Experienced Guides. Chalet is fantastic. The food was fab. The setting is everything you could hope for.
Weaknesses: None whatsoever
Overall: Myself and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My wife was just getting off the beginner status when we went this didnt matter as Johnny knew the perfect trails for us both to enjoy for different levels of abilites.
Strengths: What an awesome location - I've cycled in England, Scotland, Wales, France, Spain, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Nepal and can say that Whistler offers some of the most varied and best riding I've done. Mark and Johny are well versed in the rides available and can advise and guide all abilities. The chalet was great with comfortable bedrooms and a central lounge ideal for everyone to get together and talk about how good the riding was. Food was excellent.
Weaknesses: You get home and start thinking about how you can get out there again!
Overall: I'd recommend this holiday to anybody, our group were pretty experienced riders who all improved their abilities, and enjoying the same holiday was a complete novice! This had as much to do with Mark and Johny's abilities to guide as it did with the trails Whistler offered.
'BEAUTIFUL CHALET, STUNNING RESORT, GREAT FUN STAFF. '
Strengths: As well as the obvious strenght being Whistler's natural environment, the chalet, the food and the staff were all top notch and realy helped make our week.
Weaknesses: None that jump to mind.. appart from only seeing 2 bears ;)
Overall: Well, someone has to be first....
My partner and I decided to take a holiday out to Canada after coming across Bear Back at the Stoneleigh bike show. The staff helped us get exactly what we wanted which included a weeks riding in Whistler and some time on Vancouver island. They were super helpful in recommending where we should go and see on the Island which was great as it helped reinforce the information we were finding through various guides and web sites.
Anyway, our week in Whistler was blessed with clear skies and hot sun. The riding was superb and Mark and Johny really helped us get into the trails and encouraged us along. My partner and I generally ride the Welsh trails at Cym Caen(sp?) and Afan forest. We explained what we rode and what we were hoping to achieve and the trails selected for us seemed ideal.
The atmosphere in the chalet was great, we had the luxury of a double sleigh bed and ensuite bathroom. Our fellow guests included a family of 4 and two guys who were more into the bike park than any cross country riding. In the evenings, the open plan kitchen, lounge and dining room was perfect as it allowed us plenty of space to relax and watch as Becky cooked up a storm for dinner.
We only left the chalet on the evenings that becky wasnt cooking for us. The first night we went the Wild Wood for a really good value and delightful meal then on into Whistler village for a few drinks. The second night off we were invited along to the local bike club race. and as we had joined the club, it cost us just £1 to enter the short race and take part in the food and beer party afterwards.
Our week in Whistler was in short - superb. we were made really welcome and felt that we got fantastic value for the £350 each that we paid.
After whistler we went over to the island for a few nights, 2 in Tofino on the west coast and a 2 more in Victoria before heading back over to Vancouver and then home. The island is amazing and I would highly recommend spending some time there especially considering how far you are travelling to get to Whistler.
