Strengths: Big capacity (gear and fluid): still a daysac though, not big enough for an overnighter (not camping, anyway). Robust construction. Good chest and waist straps. Plenty of separate pockets.
Weaknesses: Can encourage you to weigh yourself down with loads of gear. Can slip forward a bit on steep descents when full and whack you on the back of the head. Back can get a bit sweaty (but no worse than other rucsacs I've used for biking).
Overall: I've had mine for about 2 years, they haven't changed the design much since then though (just changed to the screw-top bladders and right-angled bite valves). It sill looks pretty much like new despite a fair amount of abuse. Good-quality product that does the job well. Just don't pack the kitchen sink....
Weaknesses: price Size...can carry too much for a quick ride + 3litres juice = loadsa weight
Overall: This bag was redesigned in 2001 and is miles better than the 2000 model. I ordered the 2000 from Evans for £55 and they sent me the 2001 model. I carry my life in this bag and use it on bike/off bike and after 12 months use it is like new. Would I buy it for £85 ... hmmm think I would cos there is nothing else out there that compares.
Weaknesses: Too expensive! (@£90) The hip belt's not worth having The back length is too short. (5'11" inside leg 33") I could go on and on andonandonandonandon.......
Overall: I used one on a 40 mile off road ride and found that it wasn't very well balanced, even when only half full. (Or half empty!) Spend your money on something a bit more versatile, like a Lowe Alpine Flywheel(30L) @£50, a pair of Specialized ridge gloves @£20 and buy me a beer with rest!
Strengths: Loads of compartments for all your bits and bobs. Clings to you like a 'mating frog' thanks to the adjustable chest and waist straps
Weaknesses: Can be tempting to take everything you own out with you along with 3 litres of water (that seems to weigh more than lead!!!)
Overall: Well thought out and put together bag -an essential bit of kit for those long runs - Road or XC. I absolutely love it and paid £79.99 for it - couldn't see the point in buying a cheap one that I would end up being unhappy with!
