Strengths: Smooth, stiff, reliable, fit & forget. What more could I ask of a BB !
Weaknesses: Absolutely none after nearly 2 years
Overall: No, I don't work for and have not been back-handed by "Race Face". Maybe I've just been really lucky but I've had mine for nearly 2 years now in 2 different frames in all kinds of weather. It's been used for daily commuting and loads of XC and it's still running as sweet as a nut after hundreds of miles - no play at all. Mated with a "Prodigy" chain-set. The only time I've touched it was to move it to a new frame. When this one does eventually wear out I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Sorry chaps !
Strengths: Looks good - but who looks at BBs?? sits nicely with cranks, etc. Great whilst it works!
Weaknesses: Doesn't last the distance, way more expensive than FSA equivalent, non-servicable
Overall: First one lasted about 3 months of winter riding, second one has managed 4 months (admittedley plenty miles) riding in the driest UK summer on record!! Has only experienced wet conditions 2-3 times in its life, creaks like hell, wobbles all over the place. Raceface have GOT to do better than this for the price.
Strengths: Stiff and goes well with Raceface cranks.
Weaknesses: Durability. Riding and racing in Australia has finished this BB off after 7 months. But give Raceface credit they are warranting it with a replacement. The problem seems to lie with the bearing size ie small compared to the axle size ie splined and large.
Overall: Not bad but not great either. Probably on a par with XT as that seemed to last about the same amount of time.
Overall: I'm on my second one within 6 months. The first lasted around 400 miles (during a wet autumn), and the second isn't doing much better. The main weakness seems to be in the bearing seals. This is a shame as they are not replacable, meaning the whole unit needs to be ditched when the bearings are shot. In dry conditions I expect they would be fine, but this isn't typical of the UK climate. For the price I would have expected greater servicability, particularly from Race Face.
On the plus side, it is well made with the ISIS interface finished to a fine tolerance.
