Strengths: Corking value for money, don't look too much like bike shoes
Weaknesses: Bit narrow/pointy
Overall: I've been abusing my pair for a couple of years now, and have had no problems with them. OK, so they tend to leak a bit when doused, but what do you expect for under forty notes. They keep me attached to my Wellgos. Can't ask for more, really
Strengths: Comfortable, can be worn off-bike, look like normal shoes, price
Weaknesses: Cold feet due to thin insulation between metal cleat and foot. Narrow toe.
Overall: These are the first pair of SPD / clip-in shoes I've owned and I'm very happy with them. They clip in very cleanly with Shimano PD-M515 SPDs and so far have served me well on the daily commuter run (20km) and a three-day tour. For forty squids ya gotta be happy - although in the fashion stakes I wouldn't be wearing then down the local disco as the narrow toe makes them look like bikes shoes. I can, however, see these lasting for a heck of a long time.
Strengths: Light, cheap and yet well made. No problems with clicking into my 525 pedals.
Weaknesses: These shoes are very narrow. I had so move up 2 sizes to fit my feet in them. This has resulted in them being a bit too long and therefore not much good off the bike. I may have unusually wide feet so this might not be a problem for others! I am going to have to replace them.
Overall: A good entry level shoe if you are commuting and don't have wide feet. I am going to upgrade to a more sturdy Rockhopper or Carnac and wish I'd saved my money.
Strengths: Nice and comfy, lightish in weight. Also comes with quite a stiff sole which I was happy about as some other reports I'd read said thay where to flexy...They're only slightly flexier than my Shimano R120's however you can still walk properly in the M020's. Clip in and out of my M515's just fine too.
Weaknesses: NA
Overall: Got mine online for £27 so shop around, I was made-up with my purchase. These shoes are still worth the £39.99 tag though.
Strengths: Cheap.Work well with toe clips as well. Fairly stiff soles.
Weaknesses: Give me pins and needles in my toes. I think this is because of the narrow fit. I thought this was from the toe clip straps at first but I still get it with SPDs.
Overall: I bought them to try out SPDs.(I'm getting on a bit). Not sure about SPDs yet, but I think I'm going to get on with them.If I do, I think I'll wish I'd gone for some higher spec shoes and saved the money in the first place.
Strengths: Comfortable, Quite Light, Cheap, and last for ages.
Weaknesses: Laces can get caught if your not cafeful. Can get swamped with water (if you ride thru 1ft deep puddles!)
Overall: These where the 1st pair of spd shoes i had. After about 1 and half yrs and many miles later, i'm only now getting new ones. These are really good entry level shoes, and for the price you can't go wrong.
