Strengths: Good value levers with stiff and comfortable two-finger ball-ended blades, chunky barrel adjuster, good construction and finish for the price.
Weaknesses: Perhaps to stiff for some as they tend to give the Deore brakes a wooden feel, especially with hard compound pads.
Overall: Well made, ergonomically correct levers at a good price. Solid construction gives a definite bite point to the brake but the lack of further flex can be hard on the digits on long descents and they lack the modulation of other shimano units.
Weaknesses: springs don't look like they'll last, stock pads are wank.!
Overall: Fantastic brake set, feel really solid like top end avids (IE not spongy like Shimano LX, XT etc..) levers feel really great and fall to the fingers brilliantly.
Only gripe is stock pads last only a couple of rides (muddy)but not a problem can be replaced with something like Fibrax cart pads (superb!)
Strengths: a positive feel when you pull in the lever comfy and is quite light
Weaknesses: there is no power ajuster thats about it.
Overall: these are great value for people on a tight budget I perfer these to the lx because of the harder feel and you dont get that sponge feel like you do with the lx.go on buy them!
Strengths: Nicely cast, reasonably shaped and finished with a good positive action. Well priced.
Weaknesses: Develop a lot of play in the main pivot very quickly.
Overall: Good value brake levers with a good positive feel. You don't really need any better than this. Having said that for about the same price Avid SD3's give basic adjustability and have better pivots.
Strengths: nice handle, quite light and the spring tention is not too high
Weaknesses: not really any, could be a little less flexie but there is nothing much to worry about
Overall: very good, buy some, they do the job and feel nice on your fingers and look the place, soon to get deore cantalis to check them out with the levers
Strengths: Feel solid and durable, have already survived a crash with only a small scratch. Nice and cheap. Miles better than cheap STEF-27 combo brake and gear system. Look pretty sleek in black. Basic and non gimmicky, best way to go at this kind of price.
Weaknesses: None really.
Overall: These seem like rather decent levers and an excellent purchase to get away from horrible cheap oem brake and gear combo I had before. Nice and and cheap, basic and non gimmicky while equally reasuring.
