Strengths: Flex free, solid feel. dont feel any slower than a 517. Large braking surface- easier to set pads up.
Weaknesses: none yet
Overall: I would recommend these to XC/trail riders over 13 stone. I replaced my 517 rear with a DB spoked 519 and think its great- really feels more solid. still using 517 on front until its worn out.
Strengths: Reliable, lightish and good looking when clean.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Overall: A good XC rim if you might catch a little air/drop in occasionally. Not for big hitters, but good where the a little more strength is required but weight is still an issue.
Strengths: Not so light you're sacred of breaking it, not so heavy it's a 521. I'm a slave to Mavic, so it's gotta be good, right?
Weaknesses: None so far.
Overall: I build these wheels myself using ACI DB spokes and my older Hope hubset, replacing the 2 year old D521s. So far, I have no cause for complaint; they're noticably lighter than the 521s I ran before, and they built up really easily. I used to destroy 217s all the time, and couldn't bust the 521s I had. I hope these are strong enough for me, and I suspect they will be - not been riding hard enough lately. ;)

'GOOD TRAIL RIM'
Strengths: As listed above: relatively light, relatively strong. More bike bits should seek this compromise.
Weaknesses: Breaking surfaces have been really badly worn away on mine after only 8 months use.
Overall: Built a light, strong wheel, but am a little worried about durability. Have I just got a dud?
