Weaknesses: Done over 2000 miles on my bike (on and off road) and it's already knackered.
Overall: There was a time when Race Face ment something, ie quality. Now, it seems that their egos have got big and the quality has suffered due to the mass quantity of items that Race Face produce to make that little bit more profit each year.
I also have the Prodigy Evolve crank set on my bike and it has been good, shame about the BB.
I think, personally, I will think again about getting a Race Face product.
Strengths: Smooth after 4000+ miles, mostly on road sadly.
Weaknesses: Gets a bit gritty in its revolution after a short time.
Overall: I am changing this part due to a new chainset - going x-type external bb etc. Had no problems with this kit at all, no play even after 4k miles, although the action does feel like there is some grit in there.... sealing could be better i guess. that said I have mashed plenty of bbs in the past, and this is the longest lasting one i have had.... not bad at all.
Weaknesses: One bearing in the race collapsed after less than three rides round Follow the Dog Cannock Chase and one ride of the Marin Trail.
Overall: There is obviously a serious fault with Race Faces design and durability of their bearings which they should be doing something about in respect of this model. Rode a good old big S square taper unit for eight years with not a minutes problems. Hope the FSA Platinum Pro fares better.(if it doesnt I'll shell out for an SKF unit).
Strengths: good for wedging the garage door open, looking gr8 in the shop,s cabinet.(before use!)
Weaknesses: not very good on a mtb.
Overall: good way to waste your money, mine lasted one weekend in coed-y-brenin,the £19.99 power pro is now 9 months old and still going cheap shit never last,s does IT!!!!
Strengths: You'll be able to remove a chainset and bottom bracket in minutes thanks to all the practice this piece of shit will give you.
Weaknesses: creaks, moans, groans, bearings are about as smooth as a rugby player's arse.
Overall: Bought this for a Giant VT frameset as it's what the VT bikes come with. What a mistake. Depsite installing with a torque wrench to Race Face's instructions it creaks and clicks with alarming regularity if ridden in wet and muddy conditions.
Have used other Raceface BBs without toomuch distress (Prodigy DH) but I've come to the conclucion that ISIS is as bad as everyone has been saying.
Strengths: Erm let me think-the name makes you think its good but really there is absolutely nothing good about this bottom bracket, and it is quite obviously not strong or up to the job for which it was sold.
Weaknesses: Came as OE fit on Kona Hoss De Lux from Sunset in Cardiff, failed developing play within 250 miles. The associated cahinset is naff as well more chainsuck than i have ever known.
Overall: It is quite obvious that Race Face must know they have aproblem with this load of crap so it is up to the suppliers of bikes not to let them out of the shops with these bottom brackets fitted. If you are going to buy a bike with this bracket specced dont do it. Fair play to Sunset they will replace it no quibbles!
Weaknesses: Made by a crap company fitted to a good bike with the result spoiling the whole thing. Developed play in less than two months.
Overall: tried in vane to get some sort ogf warranty out of both Bonethrone bikes and Raceface. Bone throne bikes never replied to any comunication. Raceface are in Canada so dont care apparently it is a distrobution prob according to them. Like I said crap company. Giant hard to get a hold of as well. Dont fit these BBs
Strengths: None, zero, zilch, nowt (trust me, you don't want this BB)
Weaknesses: Relatively expensive for what it does, cracked and creaked straight out of the box, so much play in it now after 500 miles, I'm thinking it needs to come in for tea before it gets too dark.
Overall: Race Face should be called into question over the selling of this utter piece of cat turd.
Strengths: Can be replaced under warranty (after negotiation)but I just don't want one any more.
Weaknesses: Need replacing every 400 miles or sooner. Develops play after less than 100 miles.
Overall: Came with my NRS 2 (03), replaced once under warranty. Time to cut my losses and go back to the big S. Do you imagine anyone from Raceface/Giant will ever read this and if they did will they do anyhting about it?
Strengths: Fairly light, so low on postage when reurning to Race Face!
Weaknesses: Had mine under a month when with a loud crack it gave up the ghost. Evolve cranks I was running are nice, it's a shame the BB's aren't up to the job.
Overall: Back the big 'S' then!
