'Great value for money'

Strengths:
Very light and easy to maintain. Looks good.

Weaknesses:
Could be a bit more powerful.

Overall:
Excellent value for money for a superb piece of engineering. As usual, it is typical Shimano quality.

'CHEAP AND IT WORKS.'

Strengths:
It stops you well and looks pimp.

Weaknesses:
lets in tonnes of shite between pivot and body and then spring return fails to return it properly even if well greased up (didn't suffer this with the acera brand of v's

at £10 with blocks it almost works out cheaper than new blocks with good looks and feel

Stops you quickly and smoothly.

The Deore V-brake is fantastic. Much more controllable and powerful.

'POOR ATTEMPT!'

Strengths:
ok stopping power!

Weaknesses:
not up to the quality needed! not very strong compared to my avid front disc or even my old ones ao a £300 bike!

Overall:
not worth the money although were supplied on my Ruckus 2.0. first upgrade needed on the bike!

'BETTER THAN EXPECTED'

Strengths:
Cheap, if you get them discounted. Respectable stopping power in the dry.

Weaknesses:
Bite sharply at low speed and don't expect the pads to last long on a wet muddy ride.

Overall:
If you have a budget bike with poor brakes, you can't really go wrong with these as an upgrade. Up the bike price scale then look elsewhere. They are what they are, budget brakes with decent performance.

'I HAVE NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT THESE'

Strengths:
Good feel and lots of power. No squeal and easy to set up (no toe-in is required)

Weaknesses:
A bit of a loose fit on the pivots of my Cannondale, but this may be 'Dale's fault. Doesn't affect performance anyway. In common with all V brakes, that noodle will need a regular flush and re-lube.

Overall:
Buy them! They look much better in silver.

'STOPS YOU LIKE A .44 MAGNUM'

Strengths:
Easy to fit - even for a mechanical twonk like me. Look good and do the job, noticable lighter than the no name brand I removed.

Weaknesses:
The bolts supplied were too long for the mounts in my lobster frame - don't know whether to blame shimano or Merlin for that..

Overall:
Discounted to £29.99 from CRC they are great value for money. Good hydraulic Discs probable are better but these provide the most skids per £

'VERY GOOD'

Strengths:
Positive,quiet,silent braking. Easy to set up

Weaknesses:
None found after 6 months

Overall:
When I fitted them I put the spring in the slot to give the most tension.This means a bit more pull on the lever to stop but the advantage is that when they are covered in cack they still spring away from the rim and don't rub
