Strengths: Bright as you like. Many 'disco' options. Protects my rear end from abuse. Lasts for ages.
Weaknesses: None really. Maybe £16 is a lot for a rear light? I refer you to the comment about my rear end above.
Overall: You might think its difficult to get excited about a rear light, but this one is the biz. Brightness, durability, run time and good looks. I will not look anywhere else if ever i need a replacement.
Weaknesses: The mounting bracket is cheaply made and doesn't fasten properly without over-tightening the clamp.
Overall: Very, verfy bright LED light that isn't too bulky. Reasonably priced. Only let down by an awkward to use effectively and cheaply made mounting bracket.
Strengths: Very bright tail light, long run time, constant, flash, disco and random options.
Weaknesses: The mounting kit could be made better, it's a bit flimsy.
Overall: I was looking for the bright tail I could find and didn't see any others that came close. Still not sure if I should of spent £17 on it though!
Strengths: The brightness of the thing! It only takes a couple of AAA's to make it work. You can mount it horizontally or vertically. Peasy to fit.
Weaknesses: Funnily enough the shape. If you've not got a lot of seatpost exposed it can be fiddly to mount as horizontally it might brush yer legs, vertically you may not have enough seatpost for it. The batteries don't last too long before it starts to get dim. Try some NiMH rechargeables. Some batteries can be a faff to fit. The button is a push on, push off so be careful how you store it.
Overall: Very bright 25,000cdls, the brightest LED on the market. I found the bracket secure, and I liked the fact that if I wanted to mount it horizontally going out, and vertically coming back I could without adjusting the bracket. I used it on constant mostly and the battery life is short for a LED light, but long for a filament bulb. I've given it 4's as I reckon if they could sort out the button they'd be onto a winner.
Strengths: This light is so bright that you cannot look into it. Will get you noticed at night, amazing light to use with the Stadium.
Weaknesses: Not much really, but a very crap mounting bracket with a superlong strap, that must be cut off. NOTE TO CATEYE - IMPROVE THE MOUNTING STRAP FOR GOD SAKE!!!
Overall: The brightest rear light on the market, an excellent light to use with the stadium. Cars slow right down as the aproach you from the rear end and give a funny look when they pass, especially if you have a stadium too.
Weaknesses: That crappy bracket - mine fits to the seatpost fine but the lamp doesn't clip into it very securely and now has a ziptie wrapped around it. Bloody nuisance to follow one closely offroad.
Overall: Fantastic rear light. If you can spend lots of hundreds of pounds on a bike you can afford to spend 17 quid on a light, it could literally save your arse.
Strengths: Bright as hell. 4 different light modes. Only needs 2 AAA batteries.
Weaknesses: As mentioned, the bracket could be better...
Overall: Excellent rear light. One of the flashing modes (3 flashing - 1 constant) is a 'Knightrider' type, a sort of side to side flashing - this provides literally nanoseconds of entertainment as you pretend to be David Hasselwankoff, talking to your vehicle - until you remember how truly shit Knightrider was...
As for the batteries, get the Uniross rechargable NMHy AAA's - they recharge in 5 hours and you can buy them in a 4 pack, ensuring your never left short...
'VERY BRIGHT REAR LIGHT - VERY CRAP MOUNTING BRACKET.'
Strengths: It really is very bright on the trail and is still just as bright on a well lit road.
The fact that it can be mounted vertically or horizontally is a neat feature.
Weaknesses: The bracket.
On a muddy downhill in Exmoor last w/end my rear tyre slipped and off I went. Only at the bottom of the hill did I realise that the light - which was mounted horizontally in length - had been snapped off by the foliage at the bracket.
Be aware that even the packaging states that the bracket plastics may deteriorate with natural oils from human skin.
Overall: Very good light - mounted on nothing better than Blu-tak.
