Weaknesses: Made so that Saracen can say the X-ess has disk brakes. Well the V-brakes on all our other bikes are 100% better. We are upgrading to Avid discs - look the part and more importantly act the part. Grimeca disc pads are like hens teeth - even Saracen dont keep them!
Overall: Dont touch at any prive- if you are really hard up use a reasonable V-brake with new pads for better performance. Grimeca hubs dont last long either!!
Strengths: Not anything to shout about. i have had them for 1 year now and there still as good as new. i think there sharp, don't throw you off though. Pads don't run out quick. Don't have to clean often.
Weaknesses: Heavy ich, Can rub like any other disk break.not hydrolic.
Overall: A good disk for beginers. you can still do stunts on it and it will make you stop fast so i think its great for beginers only though not for pro's. worth buying i haven;t had the problems for parts yet though i heard they were meant to be realy hard to get.
Strengths: My front brake Worked very well and the pads lasted 2 years and I use it almost everyday for 4 hours
Weaknesses: My back brake literaly fell apart after 3 days and the shop could not replace it as they are reallypoor and no one buys them so they dont have any grimecas
Overall: Dont Buy them If you want mechanicals go for the avids
Weaknesses: That they ever made it into production, they don't stop you, they fall apart, the pads wear far to quick, and they stopped my rides from being as good as they could have been. I bought some Shimano DX V-brakes and they are infinatley better.
Overall: Steer well clear and spend your money on something that will stop you more effectivley LIKE OILING YOUR RIMS.
