Strengths: superb shifting and easy set up,not as fiddley as shimano and the exo-skeleton design dosn,t hold mud and shit, also now you can mate it up with the new sx4 or sx5 cheaper shifters which is cool.
Weaknesses: none
Overall: an awesome piece of kit that kicks shimanos ass ,even when it,s crudded up to death it still works fine, buy one you,ll not regret it!
Strengths: Perfect shifting Nice and strong Great looks Doesn't smack horst link pivots
Weaknesses: None
Overall: I had run shimano for a long time and felt like a change. I have never been too impressed with shimano parts and I don't like the company. The x-7 set-up is in a league of it's own. Shifts perfect, runs silent and lasts forever.
Strengths: Smooth Good mud clearance Pretty light Durable Easy to set up
Weaknesses: Paints not the best but still looks good.
Overall: A great buy for the money... i doubt its worth the extra for the X-9 with the performance this thing gives. Mated with the X-7 shifters its a great combo... if i changed mechs it would only be for an XO. Best shifting you can get.
Strengths: Looks to die for Faster and smoother shifting than shimano. Just a squirt of teflon lube once in a while:)
Weaknesses: None
Overall: Quite frankly the best not worth looking at shimano at the moment, dare to be different. Shimano are goinging to get fright soon as sram are really putting the pressure on.And with a sram front mech out soon an alternative drive train free from shimano is great!
Strengths: Looks fantastic Shifts perfectly Solid and reliable
Weaknesses: Nothing... except you need X-7 shifters, but they are very, very nice indeed!
Overall: What is there to say - the shifting is faultless and quick, even in the mud and gloop of Scotland. I have had no shifting problems at all since upgrading to the X-7 kit a few months back. It really is a revalation!
