'REALLY POOR RIDE!'
Strengths:
Extereme travel and bump absorbtion good. Adjustabilty etc fine

[Update 02/11/07] Now a good progressive and smooth shock thanks to the supplying dealer stripping down replacing the oil with a higher grade and lubing everything up.

Weaknesses:
Finer ride and movement over small undulations really poor. It vibrates as if the whole head set is loose but it isn't. The dealer calls it "stickshon" I call it disconcerting and currently really crap!Trying to sort this with the dealer as I write. I will update as things progress.
Overall:
Not really impressed. On my previous hard tail I had good quality FST forks which were really smooth. These new Rock shoxs are anything but and it spoils the newly purchased bike (Specialised XC disc)which is really great.

[Update 02/11/07] Now really happy with the fork and it compliments the bike well

'FAB BUT HEAVY'
Strengths:
Tracking, will climb out of ruts with ease. Your brakes will feel more powerful they're so stiff. Motion Control & U-turn make life easier on the ups. Rebound damping adjustment does make a significant difference.
How cheap?!
Weaknesses:
They are a bit lardy. U-turn adjustment with winter gloves a bit fiddly.
Overall:
Unbelievable fork for the money. They can handle the big stuff and are plush enough over the small stuff and the adjustability means you can set 'em up just as you like. These are now available for £140 in a lot of places.

'TORA 318 SOLO AIR IS THE MUTTS'
Strengths:
Solid, stiff 32mm stancions, excellent small bump sensitivity, unbelievable value, simple to set up, simple to alter, poploc is very handy.
Weaknesses:
I'm struggling here. Poploc is a bit plasticy but apart from that it would be silly to find fault with a sub £200 fork this good.
Overall:
I know this is a review of the 318 U-turn but this is the sister fork.

If your budget doesn't stretch to Pike, Revelation or Reba then you will not be disappointed.
