Weaknesses: Hose has split in several places - it was a few (4?) years old but it only get's used half a dozen times a year. Not that easy to read the gauge with any degree of accuracy. Base could be more stable, easily knocked over.
Strengths: Strong solid construction, easy to use valve head adapter, comfortable handle, nice and quick and easy to reach the required pressure, very clear gauge
Weaknesses: So far its performed it's duties without fault
Overall: A good mid-price pump, a great improvement over the small handpumps you keep in your pack. A solidly constructed design that is easy to use and will hopefully last a good few years. At £25 its good value for money.
Strengths: Accurate pressure gauge, comfortable & can handle both types of tyre valves
Weaknesses: Required a lot of effort. Very unreliable
Overall: I purchased this pump on the recomendation of my retailer for £25 to keep the tyres of my 2 bikes topped up. It was a luxury as my tyres only ever need topping up every month or so. Tyre pressures I normally run between 45 - 65 psi. I was surprised at the amount of effort I had to apply to inflate the tyres, almost as much effort as my hand pump. After eighteen months it developed a major leak between the pump and the pressure gauge. I searched the internet for spares but I failed to fine any. The pump was then despatched to our local landfill site and I spent £7 at Asda on a plastic track pump. My new pump works far better, though the pressure gauge is dubious. Recently I borrowed a Joe Blow and it topped up my tyre with ease. My conclusion is the pump is OK, but Topeaks quality inspection is suspect. The pump probably had a restriction before the pressure gauge. This made pumping difficult and created undue pressue which caused a rupture.
Strengths: solid construction, twinhead adaptor works well.
Weaknesses: some pumps have bigger base plates - but i guess that's more personal choice for the buyer
Overall: if your thinking of spending £15 - £20 on a new pump it's worth spending the extra on the Joe Blow & from trying the pumps for more £'s there doesn't seem a good reason (beyond color or brand loyalty) to spend any more
Strengths: Well built, quick and easy to use, excellent twin valve head, high pressures very easily reached
Weaknesses: None that ive found
Overall: This is an excellent pump especially when your XC bike has presta tubes, and commute machine has car type! Save yourself time and effort....get yourself one of these!
Strengths: Fast to reach high pressure, comfy grip, smarthead for quick changes between presta and schrader
Weaknesses: After about 8 months the pressure guage went dodgy and inaccurate, and the smarthead started to play up so it kept losing air. Regreasing the o-rings helped for a while but after 2 years normal use its packed up totally! Took it back to edinburgh bike and they say its knackered beyond repair!
Overall: Started off as a good pump, maybe the issues on mine are a one-off but im NOT HAPPY with this level of quality and durability from a £25 bit of kit
