Strengths: If used correctly cleans a bike very well.
Weaknesses: If left it will destroy anything. It leaked over my track pump and turned it to rust before I fgured out what was happening.
Overall: As long as you don't leave it too long this does the job. It is comming down in price since fenwicks came along which is supposed to be better.
Strengths: Cleans all bikes parts really easily. Biodegradeable.
Weaknesses: Expensive. You have to buy the spray nozzle separately. Only as effective as a good quality biodegradeable washing up liquid, a brush, water and a little elbow grease.
Overall: Good product which does clean the bike well. Use soap and water, it's just as effective.
Strengths: Easy to use, getting cheaper all the time.
Weaknesses: Don't be silly!
Overall: Even the best brushes cant get into the places that this stuff does, get your bike down to the local garage, buy a token for the jetwash, spray the bike all over with muck off and jet wash the bike.... comes up like new with the minimum of effort.
Weaknesses: expensive and just doesn't work well enough to justify th price
Overall: i cant believe people buy this stuff- just use cheap washing up liquid, a soft brush and plenty of clean water. save the money and buy something really useful for your bike
Strengths: ok if your bikes has a VERY light coating off dust.
Weaknesses: Too expensive. Doesn't beat using good old elbow grease.
Overall: Just not worth the asking price. If you've really caked your bike in mud you'll still have to get the fairy liquid bucket out to scrub it all off as Muc-off won't touch it.
Weaknesses: Like most cleaners it will attack aluminium if left on for too long. Hideously expensive.
Overall: This doesn't work any better than lightly diluted washing up liquid and still risks damaging paintwork and aluminium if left on too long. If you clean your bike thoroughly and take it off road you'll be lucky to get much more than four cleaning sessions out of a bottle.
Weaknesses: But then so does washing-up liquid Expensive!! Pink (guess it stops dummies thinking it's water and drinking it)
Overall: I use this stuff when I have $$$, when I don't I use Ecover (biodegradable washing up liquid) and there doesn't seem to be much difference. Except that Muc-off is £5 for a bottle, and Ecover is £2 and concentrated so you get 100's of washes from one bottle.
Maybe X-Lite should sell it as a concentrate? I go through 1 bottle in 2-3 bike washes. The only place i find it makes a difference is in my chain cleaning machine, there it definitely works better than washing up liquid.
Also, do X-lite know that Raleigh P&A have ripped off the packing / product with their Muc-Cleaner, same bottle, same colour; or do Raleigh get this from whoever sells to X-Lite?
