'THINK DIFFERENTLY ABOUT SKEWERS & SAVE A LOT OF WEIGHT'
Strengths: Very light, fewer moving parts than conventional skewer
Weaknesses: err.... none
Overall: A skewer that unscrews (rather quickly)rather than having a camming lever. Once you have your head around that idea it is just a skewer that does it job, looks good, & weighs a lot less than conventional skewers. An even lighter Ti version is available for quite a few pounds more (& even less weight)
Weaknesses: Difficult to fit to my Mount Vision with Pace forks. The rear one slipped on the first ride and the front one is difficult to tighten. Put my Hope scewers back on and fitted the Spin Stix to the road bike with no problem.
Overall: I wanted to use them but just couldn't trust them. If they came with longer rods and thicker spacers so you could tighten them easily then maybe they would do the job.
Weaknesses: So light they break - stripped threads are inevitable. It's impossible to crank these things up tight enough to hold the wheel in the drop-outs when used with disc brakes. You run a huge risk of having a VERY big accident.
Overall: Skewers are a "mission critical" component, not something to prat about with trying to save weight. Everything of USE's I've ever used has failed in pretty short order, and these are no exception. Run away!!!!
