Strengths: All the features you need. Especially like time riding rather than just elapsed time. Simple to use even with gloves Robust in most conditions. Water/Mud/Falling off don't seem to affect it. Clock is useful.
Weaknesses: Badly affected in cold weather. Sus. Fork/Sensor setting can be a real trial. Update time is slow. Sensor to Main unit range is a litte short. Occasional Resets for no apparent reason.
Overall: I upgraded to a cordless after buying a full suss. Although initially simple to set up, it became unreliable. Sometimes it worked for half a ride, sometimes not at all. Eventually, after moving it as high on the fork as possible and manipulating the sensor so it just passes the receive zone, it has been totally reliable. This was on the advice of the LBS/BM forum so its' obviously not a one off occurence. Also survived a heavy spill where the main unit catapulted off the mounting bracket. In summary, excellent when it works but the jurys out on reliability.
'Simple to fit, easy to use, all the functions I need'
Strengths: Especially being a recent re-entrant to biking after over thirty years without one, I found the unit very easy to fit, following the instructions in the package, and it has been reliable and accurate in the two months I've had it. I like the time riding feature (you can work out total time using the clock, if you really want to). I've not been much in the mud, but a lot in rain and cold, and left the unit on a couple of times when I hosed the bike down after a ride, with no bad effects. Very easy to change modes even with gloves on.
Weaknesses: Having only recently bought my bike, a lot of my riding has been at night, and the unit does not have a back-light.
Overall: Great value, especially if you read the ads in your bike magazine and get it for £25.99, as I did. Does all I want, is small and seems tough.
Strengths: Big and Clear Display, A good selection of functions, Easy to use, No wire.
Weaknesses: Difficult to get the sensor mounted in the right place, Doesn`t work very well in cold temperatures.
Overall: Once it is setup right it is a very good Computer. It is well sealed so no water is going to get in the sensor or the main unit. It could be difficult to get it to work on long travel sus forks though as the sensor and main unit have to be no more that 45 CM`s appart for it to work properly.
Strengths: Well sealed, takes a hard rain with no effect. Buttons with nice hard click, so you don't double-click them by mistake. Main unit doesn't come off easily, which is good, cause I have lost one, while carrying a bike uphill (probably). No cords makes it easier to clean the bike, looks cleaner too. Metallic finish looks nice.
Weaknesses: Main unit and sensor have to be on the same side of the bike and really close, or doesn't work properly under appr 15 degrees Celsius. Doesn't work at all under appr 8 degrees Celsius. It does get that cold (under 15) on evenings even in summer here, so its quite useless. The sensor battery should last for 10 000 km (users manual), only does for 1000 or so. Clock will lose (or gain, cant remember) around 10 min in a month.
Overall: Quite expensive for only the lack of cord you get. Good quality, if only it worked. Mine was a gift so I dont regret much, but am considering to by a corded one from same manufacturer. Would benefit from a back light.
Strengths: good range of functions cordless easy to set up
Weaknesses: small display slightly too expensive
Overall: I found this computer easy to set up on my hardtail, with no wire to catch on being a real bonus. I haven't had any trouble with function or setup since. I find the display can be a little small for reading quickly. Being able to quick-release the unit when locking up the bike is an added bonus.
Strengths: Clear Display Easy to read Good Price for a cordless (I paid £25.00) for mine
Weaknesses: Sensor Needs to be very close to the wheel sensor. Needs reseting sometimes after high speeds or very rocky off-road conditions, which can be annoying if you are out on a long distance ride.
Overall: Good all round computer Could have done with a Altimeter for a tenner more Not tested cold conditions yet as I have only had it for a few weeks.
Strengths: Good solid computer with nice display and functions.
Weaknesses: Wireless sensor to large and bulky for the bracket supplied.
Overall: Althought the computer is tough and well constructed after about 10 rides the sensor just snapped off the bracket. In my opinion the bracket is not designed for the size of sensor. It was also a pain to set up and isn't worth the money. I've since started using Sigma computers and they are much better.
Weaknesses: ...it only works for about ten minutes, less if it's cold. And that's if it works at all - any forks with a half-decent amount of travel (especially triple-clamps) and you can forget it.
Overall: It's just gathering dust in the shed...
