'QUIET AND RELIABLE'

Strengths:
Reliable and precice shifting. No annoying clattering

Weaknesses:
Price possibly, but for the price of a decent pair of carbon bars, which are you going to get more real benefit from?

Where do these people get an XTR front mech. for 39 quid?

'DOES EVERYTHING A GOOD FRONT MECH SHOULD DO'

Strengths:
Slickest front shifting I've ever had!
A breeze to fit and set up.
New '04 design appears to be even more robust & durable than previous.
Looks - the finish is gorgeous.

Weaknesses:
Fairly pricey for a front mech at £39.99 (but if you want the best you have to pay for it I guess)

Overall:
As front mechs go I cant see how Shimano could do much better. New design is excellent, top or bottom pull from the same mech is a neat idea, shifting is flawless, and if it lasts as long as my old XT mech (5 yrs) I'll be extremely happy with the price paid.
